As May begins, Japan enters its rainy season. It lasts from May to June/July, bringing frequent rain and high humidity levels.

During this period moisture build up inside apartments, causing problems such as mold, bad smells, damp bedding, and even allergies.

🌟Daily tips to fight mold🌟

✅ Using the air conditioner’s “dry mode” and set the ventilation fan mode in bathrooms, kitchens, and toilets;

Pulling furniture a few centimeters away from the walls and avoiding packing clothes too tightly in the closet;

Vacuuming floors to remove dust daily;

Cleaning the floor after eating;

Wiping water droplets away with a squeegee from the shower walls after showering.

🧴 Japanese products against mold 🧴

These are some of the most used mold cleaning products available in Japan:

Ofuro no Boukabi Kunenzai (防カビくん煙剤): A popular smoke bomb which releases disinfecting agents to kill mold spores.

Dorai Patto (ドライペット衣類): A tissue to prevent molding in dresser drawers.

Mizutori Zou-san (水とりぞうさん): Disposable dehumidifying tubs for closets and rooms. It is important to remove the plastic lid on top, once full change it.

This item absorbs humidity, for maximum absorption is recommended to use multiple packs at the same time.

Kabi Killer (カビキラー): A powerful foaming spray for the immediate removal of black mold on tiles, walls, and rubber seals.
